FINAL EXAM REFLECTION

This artwork represents the piece I developed for my final exam. I acquired the techniques utilized in this digital creation by viewing a Skillshare video titled "Surreal Collage Effect in Adobe Photoshop," presented by Helen Bradley. In the initial portion of the lesson, she introduced the surreal art of Julia Leister, a renowned surreal collage artist known for her ability to combine images to create compelling juxtapositions of ideas and subjects on a canvas.

The technique I learned served as a refresher on utilizing the pen tool, specifically the curvature pen tool, which I found to be a more effective option. I also learned how to isolate the animal from its body while preserving the background. I applied settings that were new to me, found under the layer menu. By selecting Layer, then New, and finally Layer Via Cut, I successfully created separation between the head and body of the duck-billed platypus. After completing this step, I incorporated an image of an orange and used the transform tool to adjust its size and shape to seamlessly align with that of the animal.

I thoroughly enjoyed the process of creating this artwork and look forward to further exploring this technique. I was especially pleased with the whimsical nature of the final result.

ADOBE LIGHTROOM EDITS

This is my fist experience learning how to edit in Adobe Lightroom. I learned how to crop, change the exposure, and remove unwanted objects. I learned how to import and export images into Lightroom Classic. I learned to export photos for the web and for print.
