This collection of artwork evoke the intricate relationship between the body, mind, and the autonomic responses to negative stimuli. The neural-like patterns, vividly branching from and through the feminine form, symbolize the profound strength and sensitivity of women navigating a world of constant external and internal pressures. These pieces blend the rawness of the autonomic nervous system—fight, flight, or shutdown—with the grace and resilience women exhibit when confronted with adversity.
In "Autonomic Storms," the branching trees and neural paths emerge from the head and heart, portraying the mind's visceral response to emotional and physical conflict. They reflect the biological and psychological storms ignited by negative stimuli—moments where the nervous system activates in defense. These neural storms, shown as explosions of light or roots of energy, contrast against vibrant and decayed backdrops, representing the tension between survival and self-expression. The juxtaposition of Victorian-era imagery with modern abstraction highlights how women's struggles with suppression, systemic oppression, and trauma are timeless, yet their neural resilience and creative agency endure as a revolutionary act. These works are a celebration of the feminine response to chaos—an artistic rendering of the body’s power to protect, adapt, and reclaim autonomy.
